Stud Project

I purchased some really affordable studs on Etsy and went to town on my denim. First I took a pair of black denim pants and then cut them into shorts. After they were cut I distressed the jeans to bring out some holes in the fabric. I added studs to different areas on each pair of shorts. The studs were really easy to push in but I would recommend using a hard surface (wrench or back of a brush) to close the studs and lock them in place as apposed to pushing them closed with your finger nail because it hurts after a while.

Tie Dye Central

First attempt at Tie Dying and it came out pretty good I think. I started with a pair of pants that I bought  and then cut into daisy dukes (far left). The watermelon color schemed pair was an old pair of shorts that I had in white. The muscle tank I cut from a plain white tee shirt that I bought for this tie dying escapade (I googled how to cut a muscle tank). The mens tie dye shirt (my boyfriends) was a CK Calvin Klein white tee that I did in a spiral tie dye method with blue and green dye.

Let sit out for 24 hours

Rinse with hot water until die runs out clear

Wash each piece separately on hottest temperature that fabric will allow

Finished colored cut-offs

Finished spiral tie dyed muscle tank with slitted back. Cut slits in back about a centimeter apart starting out thin lengthwise. Start a few inches below the neckline and gradually cut the slits wider as you get down to the end seam. Slits should have a triangle shape when finished being cut. I wore all of these pieces to Coachella.

Sheperd's Pie

Since I was in the mood to bake today I also wanted to try a Sheperd's Pie. I found a recipe here and it turned out very delicious. I served the dish with sautéed brussel sprouts and sourdough bread.

Peel the potatoes and cut them in quarters. Then boil them until tender about 20 min.

Saute the onions and then add the vegetables.

Add the ground beef and cook until the meat is no longer pink. Add the broth and Worctestshire sauce.

Mash the potatoes and add about 3/4 cup each of sour cream and cream cheese. These last two ingredients weren't in the recipe, but it made it better.

Lastly, put the vegetables and ground beef in a casserole dish, add the mashed potatoes on top and rough up the surface. Pop in the oven and bake until top is browned.

Cinnamon Apple Pie

I know it's Spring, but with the gloomy weather I have been craving warm foods. I never really go for Apple Pie, but after seeing a recipe on Pinterest of the Cinnamon Roll Pie Crusted Apple Pie here I thought I should try to make one. I loved this recipe and I added Vanilla ice cream to make it more my style.

The first step is to peel the Granny Smith Apples and cut them in cubes.

Boil the butter, sugars, and flower.

Take the defrosted pie crust dough and roll it in a ball. Then roll it flat like a pancake, sprinkling cinnamon all over. Roll it up like a taquito and cut in 1/2 inch pieces. Then take those dough circles and put them on the pie pan to make the bottom pie crust.
Lattice the top of the pie as best as you can. It is important to get a good rim around the pie. You can also make designs on the rim of the pie crust for extra cuteness.

Pour the butter liquid over the top of the pie slowly. Then pop it in the oven for about 45 min.

DIY Bleached Lace Up Tank

1. Fill up a large bucket with hot water and bleach. I used 3/4 of a cup of bleach. The hot water activates the bleach. Then add a little cold water for sensitive fabrics.

2. Let sit for a 12 hours in bleach water. Can let sit in water as long as needed.

3. When the desired lightness is achieved then rinse out with cold water a few times.

4. Wash garment with detergent

5. Dry garment

*Repeat process if lightness of the garment was not achieved

Lady Ducks Fashion Show

The Lady Ducks Fashion Show was a great success. Big thanks to Saks 5th Avenue for putting together such great Spring trends that went down the runway. Some of the designers that could have been spotted on the catwalk were Miu Miu, YSL, DVF, Prada, and Jimmy Choo. The location was at the Newport Beach Marriot Hotel. The show raised money for CHOC, Children's Hospital of Orange County. If you want to help raise money you still can by texting "CHOC" to 90999 to make a $5 donation.

Neon Spring

The top photo is a picture of one of the Planet Blue models sporting some neon for one of their weekly photo shoots that they have going on over there. I love the cut outs. This dress reminds me of that famous blue and white dress that Julia Robert's wore in her opening scenes in the movie Pretty Woman.
